Healthy Home Kit: Lourdes Adelaida Chitay

Adelaida and husband’s live in the department of Sololá, Guatemala. The couple has one daughter, a 2-year-old girl. While Adelaida’s husband works in the field, she takes care of their baby and their home. “Our other stove was really old,” says her husband, “but now, it is really pretty and works really well.”

In addition to constructing a smokeless stove with the support of Habitat for Humanity Guatemala, Adelaida and her family now have their own water filter and sanitary latrine.  “We used to drink water from the sink, but now with the filter we feel much better.” Before, they shared the latrine of their relatives that live close by. “Now, we now have our own to use. We are very content,” expresses Adelaida’s husband.

“We had a really good time with the volunteers while they were here”, he says, sending a message: “Thank you all for your help, may God bless you and have a Merry Christmas!”
