Water, Health, and Education: Lasting Change
“The impact of the projects implemented in our school and community has been truly transformative. Today, we can confidently say that our children are living a different reality. In the past, many of our students faced constant risks of dehydration and illness, but now, thanks to these interventions, we have a much healthier environment that is supporting their holistic development and the well-being of the entire community.
From our experience, the changes have been profound and visible. One of the most significant achievements has been the construction of a hybrid classroom. Previously, students attended classes in sheet-metal structures, where the heat, discomfort, and inadequate conditions made learning difficult. Today, our children study in a cooler, well-ventilated, and dignified environment, with concrete walls and proper flooring, which not only improves their comfort but also reduces exposure to bacteria and disease.

Another major accomplishment has been the installation of four new latrines. Before, the facilities we had were in very poor condition, even posing a risk to the children. There was a danger of accidents due to the deterioration of the structures. Now, with these new facilities, we have taken an important step toward improving the safety and dignity of our educational community, especially considering that we serve a student population of approximately 300 children.
Access to water has been another fundamental improvement. Previously, we only had a handmade system that could not meet the basic needs of all students. This created difficulties even for essential activities such as handwashing. Today, thanks to the installation of four rainwater harvesting systems (Rotoplast), we now have a sustainable water source that allows children to wash their hands and faces, keep classrooms clean, and improve their hygiene habits.

In addition, these systems are complemented by 225 water filters, ensuring that students have access to safe drinking water. This has been key to reducing illnesses and improving children’s hydration, generating a direct impact on their health and academic performance.
The project has also benefited families within the community. Ninety-four concrete floors have been installed in homes where families previously lived with dirt floors. This change is extremely significant, as it helps prevent disease, especially among children, who are the most vulnerable. Many of these families have children attending our school and now enjoy a healthier and more dignified living environment.
Overall, these efforts have directly impacted dozens of families and our entire educational community, strengthening both the health and education of our children.
As the principal of this educational center, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to . Their support has been essential in transforming not only our infrastructure, but also the quality of life of our students and their families. Today, we can see how these projects are generating real change, positively impacting education and the development of our entire community.
We are deeply grateful because what was once an urgent need is now a reality that is building a better future for our children”.
