Our international donors aren’t the only ones who are working to create opportunities for families in Guatemala. Habitat for Humanity Guatemala works hard every year at fostering quality professional relationships with a wide variety of partners here in Guatemala. We believe in the value of finding Guatemalans who are able and willing to partner with other Guatemalans in need. Below is a list of several Guatemalan businesses who have supported us.
At this hotel we hosted a dinner “Real Chef” with Ricardo Garcia Santander (presenter for the Viva tomorrow Guatemalan program- Guatevisión) as a guest chef. Over 100 guests attended and all of the proceeds went to support our housing programs. We are now working together to create informative talks for collaborators of the InterContinental Hotel who wish to build houses with Habitat Guatemala, and are also planning a fundraising campaign for customers of the hotel through another “Real Chef” dinner for 2015. This hotel also provides us with a special rate for Global Village groups.
This donor is part of the Kimberly-Clark recycling program. In November 2014, they helped deliver 50 water filters to families in need of clean water in the community of Caserío Fegua Buena Vista. We are currently working together on a special project, which impacts the community of Parcelamiento Las Cruces, including the implementation of our Healthy Home Kits as well as necessary building improvements to the local school. Pantaleon has also donated 100 more filters, which will be used to benefit more communities in the department of Escuintla.
Megaproductos participated as a sponsor of our National Forum of Social Housing. They currently work with Habitat in our pilot program of construction “Megacasa 2G”.
The Union Church in Guatemala City has joined Habitat Guatemala on several occasions participating in volunteer groups, as well as providing financial support.
Habitat Guatemala received donations that were collected at the Aluminum Fair, which was held in the Industry Park. This event was publicized through the mediums of television, radio and newspaper, among others.
They supported our work through their donation of 47 water filters to families in need in the village of Quetzalito in the department of Izabal.
Much like the support for the broadcasting of the dinner “Real Chef”, Habitat Guatemala was featured in the Campaign of the Month with TV station Guatevisión with short news episodes every day (for a month). Collaborators, strategic partners and volunteers spoke on the work of our organization as well as their personal experiences. Through this partnership we were also able to tell story of a family who benefitted from one of our houses, by means of two episodes (before and after). They also provided TV coverage of our “Real Chef” dinner.
Donated a commercial spot on two stations (94.9 and 106.1 FM) to promote the International Youth Day 2014.
Together Habitat Guatemala and Kimperly Clark are working on a recycling campaign, which aims to enourage more organizations to collect suitable materiales for recycling to turn into water filters, which are intended for diverse communities.
Cemaco, a well-known Guatemalan chain, has participated in our national volunteer program in Quetzaltenango and Mazatenango. They are also conducting informative talks with collaborators and are creating proposals for fundraising activities.
ANFORA volunteers have joined in on the celebrations of International Day of Youth and International Day of Volunteers.
